Karmela Lozina is a Master craftsman who has devoted more than 20 years to the beauty industry. She joined the Sahag Workshop in 1995 and is one of the youngest hair stylists to achieve the Senior title at the Sahag Workshop. Magazines such as Vogue, Nylon, WWD and People frequently interview her about hair cutting techniques, tips and fashion trends. In 2007 she was voted by readers of Allure Magazine onto their "A-List" as a top rated hair stylist in New York City. With an unabashed passion for cutting hair, Karmela has dedicated following of fashion, celebrity and "civilian" clients.
She loves what she does and her clients do too. Personally trained by John Sahag, Karmela lives by John's ideal to constantly improve one's skills as an artist. According to Karmela, "John taught us to keep learning, every day, every second. My clients, whether they are celebrities or civilians, all want a signature cut that feels like they were born with it, with the Sahag Cut method, they get exactly what they want."
Whether on a photoshoot or teaching at seminars, Karmela constantly improves her ability to "see" more possibilities for her clients. Using the Sahag Cut method on short, medium or long hair, Karmela can create more imaginative and versatile shapes than with any other technique. Her clients can "shake" their hair into place with minimal after-wash styling. It is that natural - easy going and flowing.
Karmela learned from John to "always keep learning, seeing, doing" and finding new ways to help her clients see themselves in a new light. Up to date on the latest fashions and modern looks, Karmela lets her clients help her find what's "right" for them whether it's for a Diane Von Furstenberg runway show or Kelly Osbourne. Her clients help her "discover" the look that pushes their self-image into what is current, yet not a fashion victim. Her cuts are classic for clients who are conservative, yet somewhat iconoclastic for those who are more daring.
